WEDDING Flashback: Eddie Murphy & Tracey Edmonds

Who: We kicked off 2008 with the news that actor Eddie Murphy and movie exec Tracey Edmonds had tied the knot during a sunset ceremony
Date: Jan. 1 2008
Location: A private island off Bora Bora in French Polynesia
Guests: 25 guests bore witness. Among the guests were best man Johnny Gill, maid of honor Nicole Avant, matron of honor Julie Lev, as well as Edmonds's parents Jacqueline and George McQuarn, her brother Michael, Murphy's mother Lillian Lynch and his brother Vernon
Dress: Off-white creation by designers Sugia Nazel and Jill Baracci, the bead work on the garment's delicate French lace sparkling in the dying sunlight while the undulating ruffles of the gown's silk taffeta train mirrored the movement of the ocean waves as she made her way toward the groom, who had donned a cream-colored suit for the ceremony
Music: The smooth groove of Gladys Knight's "Makings of You" accompanied the bride as she walked to a gazebo constructed of thousands of seashells. DJ Darrin Ebron from Los Angeles kept the guests dancing
Cake: The wedding cake was by Sam Godfrey of Perfect Endings in Napa, CA, and featured four layers in whites and cream with handmade sugar cymbidium and dendrobium orchids
Event Coordinator: Colin Cowie
Rings: The bride received a wedding band to accompany the 8-carat yellow diamond Cartier engagement ring she has worn since July 2007
Current Status: Kaput! Couple of days after the wedding, it emerged that the ceremony was not legally binding. The couple then began a public war of words swapping allegations around the reason for the breakup
Cupid Knot Verdict: 3 knots for the beautiful island ceremony but minus 3 knots for making a joke of marriage. 0 knots
